The Office of Executive Counsel handles the Commission's monthly Business & Executive Sessions, represents and defends the Commission in state and federal court as well as in cases before other regulatory agencies. Provides general legal advice to the Executive Secretary and the Commissioners on regulatory and non-regulatory legal issues and represents the Commission in non-regulatory cases such as civil service appeals. Handles all public records requests, requests for opinions and the issuing of Requests for Proposals and provides any other assistance as required by the Commission.
The Legal Division falls under the supervision of the Executive Counsel. Direct supervision of the Staff attorneys is the responsibility of the Attorney Supervisor. This division handles cases filed at the Commission for determination at the agency level. This includes rulemakings, adjudications, arbitrations and other types of proceedings in the area of telecommunications, electric, gas, water, sewer, common carrier regulation and other areas as provided by law, including, but not limited to the “Do Not Call Program.” |
