The mission of the Division of Economics is to provide unbiased recommendations based on economic, financial, and statistical analyses of the utility companies in Louisiana in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Commission. The Division is charged with researching and analyzing deregulation, electricity sector restructuring, effective market monitoring, and implementing the market-based approach to utility regulation whenever such an approach is in the public interest. In addition, the Division assists the Commission staff, the jurisdictional utility companies, national organizations, and the citizens of Louisiana in regulatory affairs with respect to the federal and state laws and with respect to the Commission's policies, guidelines, rules and procedures.
